Quick cymbal question

Does any one of you know what the 20" A Custom Flat Rides are like? Are they much thinner than the regular ones? Can one crash it?

Thar's the cymbal Carter Beauford uses alot. He rides it with his left hand and plays his hi-hat with his right giving him some of his trade mark syncopated rhythms. It's one of the strangest sounding cymbals made. It has practically no ping or attack, and a soft wash. It's a great cymbal for quiet gigs. You can't crash it. It's almost as if the cymbal's sound disappears after hitting it.

I use to own one. You can crash it but it doesn't sound good. It produces a warm, soft ride sound. It's not pingy at all, as VDrummer stated. Very unique cymbal.

I sold mine because it didn't have enough definition and had too much wash/uncontrollable overtones. Probably should have kept it though. [img]graemlins/cry.gif[/img]

thats a great description of that cymbal by both of you. it does have a little stick definition though.

I listened to the samples on the Zildjian website, and I really liked what I heard. Just realised that it is the same cymbal that Antonio uses on the latest Metheny DVD. Great sound! I'll propbably get one next week.

Have a listen to the K Custom flat ride, much nicer than the A, IMO.
